around here, after days and days of rainy, dreary, gloomy, gray morning, i am soaking up the morning sun. love how it streams into my kitchen this time of year.
around here, winter is usually fairly dry, so seeing the fallen leaves encrusted with frost is enchanting.
sidenote #1…i think enchanting might be one of my all time favorite words.
sidenote #2…whenever i say the word ‘frost’ i can’t help but think of matthew mccona-hottie in ‘how to lose a guy in 10 days’ and his ad campaign ‘frost yourself’.
around here, i am happy to be doing a december daily album again. i didn’t do one last year…i told myself that i didn’t have time. and i missed it. really, really missed it. because this project, although it does require a small amount of time, #1) forces me to pay attention and #2) is a tactile, creative outlet. both of which bring me great joy.
around here, i have most of my christmas decorations put up. one of my favorite things was decorating the new shelves i put up during my kitchen update. it was fun seeing my old decorations in a new setting.
around here, i have dirty laundry coming out of my ears, our christmas tree still isn’t up, and i haven’t shaved my legs in a week. but i am trying my hardest to keep the holiday hustle at bay. and to that end, i am re-reading ‘the greatest gift’ by ann voskamp. every morning, before i check my email or social media, i am taking a few minutes to let God’s word keep me focused the the true meaning of Christmas.
around here i am nurturing my christmas spirit. because even in this sometimes dark and violent world, i believe in magic and wonder. i believe in grace. i believe in light. and i believe in love.
around here i am wishing the same for you.
love, kelly
