I remember exactly the day that I fell in love with my husband. He and I were having lunch in a little diner down the street from where we worked. It was one of the first times that we had lunch just the two of us – most of the time we went to lunch with our group of friends.
So anyway, over burgers and fries we started talking about our respective days at work. And then at some point, the conversation took a turn. Instead of just talking about computers and data reports, we started sharing ourselves. Sharing some of our fears. Sharing our hopes and dreams.
From the beginning I always loved Tripp’s sense of humor and the ‘wiser-than-his-years’ look in his eyes. And let’s not forget his muscular arms and legs….I’m just sayin’. But this time was different. There was a vulnerability to him that I had not seen before and I got a glimpse into his heart. And I knew he was the man for me.
Last month, Tripp and I celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary and like any couple who’s been married that long, we’ve had our share of up and downs. But the one thing that still remains is the love we have for each other. It sounds so cliché I know, but I believe in love. I believe in it’s power to heal and I believe that love always wins.
Happy Valentine’s Day, Dear. I love you.
