as i was pondering my photography goals for the year, i knew that i would continue my practice of taking a picture everyday. for me it’s a daily practice in being present, paying attention, expressing gratitude.
but i also wanted a project. a new way to challenge myself…yet still staying true to my word for year, pare.
several months ago, i was putting some things away in a drawer and stumbled across my old film SLR camera. and i thought taking actual film pictures might be a fun way to continue to challenge myself, doing something i already love. with equipment i already have. the only expense would be a roll of film a month. and on the plus side i would have real, live photos for my scrapbook.
but i also wanted to keep the project small, manageable. and i remembered an article i read a few years ago in one of my scrapbooking magazines (by stacy julian i believe). the idea was to take 12 pictures on the twelfth day of every month. and then at the end of the year, you would have a snapshot of the year.
and so i decided to take that same approach with my photography project. twelve film pictures on the twelfth of each month.
for the time being, i am going to keep the parameters pretty loose. maybe one month it will be a photowalk kind of thing. maybe another month it will be concentrating on one particular subject. who knows. that’s kind of the beauty of doing your own photo project…you get to decide the rules. or lack thereof.
once i get my photos developed, i’ll share them here with you. {walgreens will include a cd with digital copies upon request.}
now if you’ll excuse me, it’s a beautiful, sunny day and i’m off to take some pictures.
love, kelly
This is going to be fun to watch!!
i dug out my film camera the morning, too, after seeing your flickr announcement. it’s fun to go “old school” every now and then. looking forward to seeing your project unfurl.
A stellar idea! And I love your little logo. My ‘to-do’ for tomorrow is to go catch that lesson on 2B.
I am excited to drop in and see what you will be photographing – I most likely will learn something here — Love you Logo — it has a shape touch to it..
I’ll be back…
Hugs
I’m not even sure I could find my film camera! This will be such a fun project. I’ll look forward to seeing your results!
Fun! I bet you will find it very peaceful. I look forward to seeing what you capture.
